How do children communicate when they use technology?

Today this group of children worked on their blogs.  They were all completely engaged with their blogs, with one choosing to write on paper.  While they were working they talked constantly.  They were talking about the content of what they were putting on and they were teaching each other how to do things to make the most of their blogs.  Punctuation and spelling were also discussed as they made sure they got things right.  All of the conversation was about learning.  In the meantime they had another level of conversation going on through gmail.  The children rated their communication during the hour they were working and agreed it was at a level of 8 to 10 (with 10 being total communication and 0 being none).
